This is a late update on our training session with the SMART Diving Team which took place in mid 2013. SMART Diving Team or
Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance & Rescue Team is a special force unit for search and rescue services, established under the
Malaysian National Security Council. The SMART team was founded after the tragic Highland Tower collapse back in the 90s. Consequently, the SMART team have embarked on a few other international rescue assistance which include:
- Mission Search and Rescue Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia in December 2004
- Mission Search and Rescue Quake Victims In Muzafarabad, Pakistan in 2005
- Mission Search and Rescue Landslide Victims In Leyte, Philippines in 2006
- Mission Search and Rescue Landslide Victims Cave Silver Cave Templer, Silver Thong on January 12, 2009
- Search And Rescue Mission Building Collapse Victims Jaya Supermarket in Section 14, Petaling Jaya on May 28, 2009
- Subsequent Disaster Management Mission Aircraft Crashes in Malaysia Airlines MH 17 Grobovo Behampiran Donetsk Region, Ukraine, on July 17, 2014
